FitScreen is an iOS app that helps you take back control of your phone by
locking your distracting apps until you've earned screen time through
walking. We built FitScreen to be a tool for you, not a product that
monetizes your data. This document explains exactly what we do and don't do
with information from your device.
Short version. Your step count, calorie burn, and chosen
apps stay on your device. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal
information. We use a small amount of anonymous analytics to understand
which screens convert, nothing that identifies you.
1. Information that stays on your device only
The following information is read on your device and never leaves it. We
cannot see it, nor can our servers receive it.
Health data (step count, active energy) — read from
Apple HealthKit only to calculate how much screen time you've earned.
Stored only in iOS HealthKit and in FitScreen's local cache on your device.
Selected apps and categories — when you choose which
apps to lock, FitScreen receives an opaque
FamilyActivitySelection token from Apple's Screen Time API.
These tokens are anonymous (we cannot tell which apps you picked from
looking at the token), they are stored only locally, and Apple does not
let any app — including FitScreen — read what's behind them.
Usage time of selected apps — Apple's DeviceActivity
extension reports how long you've spent in the apps you chose to lock.
This counter lives in your device's app group storage. We do not receive
it on any server.
2. Information used for purchases and subscriptions
FitScreen offers an in-app subscription. To process and validate purchases
we rely on two services:
Apple App Store handles the actual payment. We never see
your card details, your name on the card, or your billing address. Apple's
privacy policy governs that flow.
RevenueCat (RevenueCat Privacy Policy)
validates the App Store receipt and tells the app whether your
subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user ID
that we generate, the product you bought, and the receipt from Apple. It
does not receive your Apple ID, your name or your email.
3. Anonymous analytics
We use Mixpanel
(Mixpanel Privacy Policy)
to count product events — for example, how many people complete onboarding,
how many open the paywall, which plan is selected. These events:
are not linked to your real identity;
contain only an anonymous device ID generated by us;
never include your health data, your selected apps, or your subscription
payment details.
You can opt out of analytics at any time in Settings → Privacy → Disable
analytics, and we'll stop sending events from your device.
4. Health & fitness data — special protections
As required by Apple, we want to be explicit about how we treat health and
fitness data:
We do not use health data for advertising or marketing.
We do not share, sell, or rent health data to any
third party.
We do not transfer health data to brokers, data
aggregators, or research databases.
We do not store health data on any server we control.
5. We do not sell or share your information
FitScreen has no business model that depends on selling user data. We do
not sell or share personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or
any third parties beyond the service providers listed above (Apple,
RevenueCat, Mixpanel), each used strictly to operate the product.
6. Your rights
Delete your data. Uninstalling FitScreen removes all
local data from your device. To delete the anonymous analytics record on
Mixpanel, email us at the address below and include the request to delete
your anonymous user ID.
Revoke permissions. You can withdraw HealthKit or Screen
Time access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security. FitScreen
will stop reading those data sources immediately.
Cancel subscription. In Settings → Apple ID →
Subscriptions, or via the in-app "Manage Subscription" button.
7. Children's privacy
FitScreen is rated 4+ in the App Store but is designed for an adult or
teenage audience deciding to limit their own screen time. We do not
knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you
believe a child under 13 has used the app, contact us and we will delete
any related analytics record.
8. Data retention
On-device data — for as long as the app is installed.
Subscription receipts (RevenueCat) — kept for the
lifetime of the subscription plus the period Apple/RevenueCat require for
receipt validation and refunds.
Analytics events (Mixpanel) — retained for 12 months
then automatically purged.
9. International users
RevenueCat and Mixpanel may process data on servers located in the United
States. By using FitScreen you understand that the limited data described
above may be processed outside your country of residence.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and bump the
"Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes that affect data
collection will also be announced in the app.
